Ricard is the name of an inquisitive and imaginative man who in 1932, at the age of 23, found a way to stabilise the recipe for an aniseed aperitif entrusted to him by an old Provence resident. Paul Ricard then went round the cafés of Marseille and gave the drink a taste. That year, he sold 250 000 litres of his pastis, which he simply decided to give his name to. In 1938, he made his triumphant journey to Paris. Since the brand's creation, more than 2 billion bottles have been sold.
