Product detailed description

Brand: The name 'Or et Lumière' refers to the process of drying the grapes or 'passerillage'. From mid-October onwards, the grapes reach a high level of ripening, which is linked to 'noble rot'. The result is delicious sweet wines with a deep golden colour.

Winemaker: Fabrice Gouraud. Bachelor's degree and advanced professional diploma in viticulture and oenology.

100% Chenin Blanc

Vine age: 25 years (average)

Yield: 35hl/ha

Vineyard area: 9 ha

Soil: This appellation which extends along the river nestled in the Layon Fault contains a large variety of soil types (shale rock, hornblende, rhyolite, black coal...). In the province of Anjou, sand and gravel cover the bedrock of Briovérien, located on hills with a gentle slope.

The vines are harvested by hand only, late in the season, when the famous 'noble rot' successfully concentrates all the sugar and aromas in the Chenin Blanc berries. After soft pressing, and with regard to the aromas, a slow fermentation with a temperature control system is used.

Ageing: aging on the lees for at least 6 months before the bottling process.

Ageing potential: 10 years

Tasting notes: Dark golden colour. Rich wine with well-balanced sweetness; notes of honey, apricot, candied fruit (sometimes exotic if young), floral notes (lime blossom, acacia, oleander...

Best served at 8-10°C. This wine is perfect as an aperitif, and it also goes well with foie gras, fish in sauces, white meat, mature cheeses (Roquefort), and desserts (lemon or apricot tart, fresh figs).
